Education in Cell and Biological Systems

The Department of Cell and Biological Systems plays a major role in the education of both graduate and medical students.

Graduate students in the biomedical sciences, neuroscience, anatomy and MD/PhD programs pursue their training through coursework and mentorship in the research laboratories. Two of the options in the Biomedical Sciences PhD Program have significant ties to the department: Cellular and Integrative Physiology (CIP) and Virology and Immunology (VIRIM), with faculty serving in leadership roles and teaching many of the required courses.

Undergraduate students from throughout the United States pursue training in basic and translational research through internships and fellowships, typically in the summer months.
