Community Outreach in Cell and Biological Systems

The department has many educational and research programs that serve the community.

Undergraduate Research Programs

The American Heart Association Undergraduate Student Fellowship (AHA-USF) program, administered in the Department of Cell and Biological Systems, is a 10-week training program in cardiovascular disease research that accepts six outstanding undergraduate students each summer.

Students also receive funding to travel to a national conference with their mentor to present their research project.

Faculty participate in many other undergraduate research internship programs. View the undergraduate internship programs offered at the College of Medicine.

Research Experiences for Area High School Students

Faculty have hosted high school students from the community to complete a research internship, which allows them to work in the lab for an extended period and gain experience in biomedical research.
