Academic Specialists in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Penn State College of Medicine

The Division of Academic Specialists in Obstetrics and Gynecology’s mission is to provide the highest quality and equitable care for obstetric and gynecologic patients of every race, ethnicity, religion, socioeconomic status, gender, sexual orientation, ability and education level.  We are also dedicated to training future physicians, including both medical students and residents.

ASOG Division Chief's Letter Basic Content

The Division of Academic Specialists in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ASOG) at Penn State Health consists of dedicated physicians and advanced practice providers, working collaboratively to ensure the delivery of safe, equitable and evidenced-based care. ASOG provides care for individuals across their entire lifespan. Pediatric and adolescent care is provided through our specialty clinics such as the multidisciplinary clinic for young women and girls with bleeding disorders, as well as the pediatric/adolescent clinic for girls with complex gynecologic complaints. Our family planning specialists are committed to providing comprehensive, reproductive and sexual health care in an environment that is both welcoming and inclusive.  Obstetric services are provided by an outstanding team of certified nurse midwives, nurse practitioners and physicians, through various private clinics, resident continuity clinics and other specialty clinics such as the Substance Use Disorder in pregnancy clinic and Intermediate Care Clinic. The ASOG division is one of the most academically diverse groups in the region with an unsurpassed expertise in the medical and surgical management of gynecologic conditions while using the most cutting-edge approaches.

ASOG Division Education Tab Basic Web Content

Education

The Division of Academic Specialists in Obstetrics and Gynecology plays a significant role in the education of Penn State medical students and residents by providing comprehensive, evidence-based obstetric and gynecologic health education.

There is a core clinical rotation for clerkship medical students and electives in family planning and labor and delivery for fourth-year students.

Additionally, we are committed to the education and training of resident physicians in the office setting, labor and delivery and in the operating room, from PGY-1 through PGY-4.

This division consists of dedicated faculty who are committed to educational success, nurturing of collegial relationships within and across the various divisions, a positive teaching environment, strong didactics and surgical experiences.
