Dr. Rodney Ellis joined Penn State Health on July 1, 2019, as the inaugural chair of radiation oncology. Before joining Penn State, he served as vice chair for the Department of Radiation Oncology at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center/Seidman Cancer Center and Case Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Dr. Ellis has published more than 99 peer-reviewed articles in journals, such as the Journal of Gastroenterology and the International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology, Physics and Brachytherapy, and has more than 100 published abstracts/poster presentations. He has been invited to present his research nationally and internationally. His primary research interest is in molecular imaging for prostate cancer and radiation therapy planning for advanced image-guided radiation applications. He is the principal investigator for the NRG GU-005, a Phase III randomized trial for intermediate-risk men with prostate cancer randomized between hyperfractionated radiation and stereotactic radiosurgery. His main focus of research and expertise is in advanced image guidance for dose-painting prostate cancer, utilizing either IMRT/SBRT or brachytherapy with multimodality imaging.
