Overview
The FACSDiscover S8 instrument was purchased through an NIH S10 grant (S10OD038168).
This instrument combines spectral flow cyometry with real-time image-enabled sorting to identify and isolate unique cell populations based on high-parameter phenotypic and morphological characteristics, as well as cell subsets with desired marker localization.
Additional Details
Using 5 lasers, UV (349 nm), violet (405 nm), blue (488 nm), yellow-green (561 nm) and red (637 nm), in combination with an array of 78 fluorescent detectors the FACSDiscover provides maximum flexibility in fluorochrome choice and high-parameter marker detection.
Three fluorescent imaging detectors are available following excitation from the blue laser (FL1: 534/46; FL2: 600/60; FL3: 788/225) in addition to detection of forward scatter, side scatter and axial light loss. Multiple imaging features are available for real-time sorting and data analysis including Correlation, Delta center of mass, Diffusivity, Eccentricity, and Max intensity.
For cell sorting, 85 uM, 100 uM and 130 uM nozzles are available with up to 6-way sorting into 5 ml tubes or 2-way sorting into 15-ml or 50-ml tubes. Plate sorting and index sorting are available for 6-, 24-, 48-, 96- and 384-well plates.
