Biography

Krishne Gowda specializes in organic/medicinal chemistry with application to drug design and development for various diseases. He is an expert in the synthesis, characterization, assessment of efficacy, and structural optimization of drug-like compounds that are used in investigations of the structure-activity relationship. This includes chemopreventive and chemotherapeutic agents for cancer and inflammatory diseases, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon carcinogens and their metabolites. He also has expertise in making nanoparticles for drug and RNA delivery in animal studies, and has produced these for other collaborating researchers. This research has been published in more than 80 peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Gowda incorporates the training of medical students and postdocs in this work and also gives lectures in graduate courses, including Antibacterial Therapy, and β-Lactams (Pharm 551), and Current Strategies in Cancer Chemotherapy (Pharm 554). He has served as an interviewer for the MD student’s admission to the Penn State College of Medicine has also served as a scientific reviewer for key journals in his field.
