George H. Conner Alumni Society
Dr. George Conner, founding chief of what is now the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, retired in 1994 after more than 20 years of service. During his tenure, Dr. Conner established a full-time academic, research-oriented division and recruited outstanding faculty with the installment of a residency training program. In recognition of his invaluable impact, the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery is proud to announce the official formation of the George H. Conner Alumni Society.
Message from Dr. Neerav Goyal
Dear Fellow Alumni,
Whether it’s restoring a child’s hearing, treating sleep apnea, improving the voice of a teacher, curing chronic rhinosinusitis, restoring an aging face, or resecting and reconstructing a head and neck cancer – each of us has the privilege of being able to make a difference in the lives of our patients and for our communities.
As alumni, we are fortunate to have developed these skills while training with Penn State Health Otolaryngology. We learned from being exposed to a wide range of unique and rare pathology, guided by multidisciplinary surgeons with diverse perspectives to patient care
The residency program at Penn State Health continues to offer training in novel and cutting-edge techniques including transoral robotic surgery, upper airway stimulator implants, transoral laser surgery, in-office laryngology procedures and radiofrequency thyroid nodule ablation. In the past 5 years, the department has opened a new Skull Base Lab, led an annual residency surgical skills training course and is currently underway on renovating the Temporal Bone Lab.
The George H. Conner Alumni Society was officially established in 2022. It brings me great joy to give back to a department and training program that has invested so much in its’ trainees. I know that my giving will be an investment that will provide current and future residents increased support and training – even beyond what you and I were privileged to receive.
Please join me in giving to the newly formed Alumni Society to support the growing department and a world-class residency training. Your gift will provide a lasting impact in training the next great generation of Otolaryngologists and Head and Neck Surgeons.
Thank you for your support and generosity. We greatly appreciate the continued drive to help others.
Sincerely,
Neerav Goyal, MD, MPH, FACS
