The Division of Gynecologic Oncology is committed to providing compassionate, patient-centered care to women intended to prevent, diagnose and treat gynecologic cancers. The division has a long and rich history of commitment to research, education and patient care in gynecologic oncology. Historically, the division had one of the first fellowship programs in gynecologic oncology and one of the first members of the Gynecologic Oncology Group, now the NRG, a combination of the Gynecologic Oncology Group, the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project and Radiation Therapy Oncology Group. The NRG is a national multidisciplinary, multi-institutional organization funded by the National Cancer Institute to care for women with cancer. Residents, faculty and students have become internationally recognized leaders in gynecologic oncology. Two former faculty members, Stephen L. Curry, MD, and Rodrigue Mortel, MD, have been presidents of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology. Today, we look forward to the education and development of the next general of leaders in gynecologic oncology.
