
Munima Nasir, MD
Professor, Family and Community Medicine
Biography
Dr. Munima Nasir serves as Professor of Family and Community Medicine and practices at the Middletown Medical Group at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. She also holds a leadership role as Associate Chief Medical Officer at the institution. A committed educator and clinician, Dr. Nasir is passionate about training the next generation of physicians through immersive clinical teaching, mentorship, and curriculum innovation.
As a core faculty member in the Family and Community Medicine Residency Program since 2012, Dr. Nasir has helped shape a culture of excellence in teaching, diversity, and scholarship. She is actively involved in the residency’s curriculum committee and serves as a mentor to residents, particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds. She also serves as course director for the foundational clinical skills course at Penn State College of Medicine and is widely recognized for her contributions to educational leadership and scholarship.
Clinically, Dr. Nasir provides comprehensive outpatient primary care at the Middletown clinic, where she is part of a high-performing team delivering over 46,000 visits annually. She also precepts residents in outpatient and inpatient care. Her areas of interest include transitional care, chronic disease management, culturally responsive care, and interprofessional education. Dr. Nasir has co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters in leading family medicine journals and resources such as American Family Physician, Family Medicine, and The 5-Minute Clinical Consult.
What she values most about working with residents is their curiosity, resilience, and drive to improve. As a faculty member, she finds joy in guiding learners toward their full potential while contributing to a dynamic academic community.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Nasir enjoys spending time with her family, volunteering in her faith community, and leading youth educational programs. She is especially passionate about mentoring, community health equity, and supporting diverse voices in medicine.
