Lu Qin, PhD

Dr. Lu Qin’s research focuses on cardiovascular integrative physiology, neurovascular regulation, and the mechanisms by which inflammation alters sensory and vascular function in cardiovascular disease and women’s health. Her laboratory investigates interactions among extracellular vesicles (EVs), ion channels, sensory neurons, vascular smooth muscle cells, and the autonomic nervous system. Current research examines how circulating inflammatory EVs and calcium signal contribute to vascular dysfunction, altered sensory signaling, sympathetic regulation, and blood pressure control. Disease areas of interest include endometriosis, preeclampsia, peripheral artery disease, estrogen deficiency/menopause, and cardiovascular risk of other chronic inflammation. The laboratory integrates cellular and molecular approaches with translational human and animal physiology, including calcium imaging, extracellular vesicle isolation, and sensory-neuron physiology, etc.
