Trainees will be exposed to, and gain first hand experience with, a full range of surgical procedures including but not limited to PKP, DALK, DSAEK, DMEK, KPro, corneal cross linking, amniotic membrane transplants, iris repair, and secondary insertion of IOLs. Program Overview
The fellowship includes interaction with two or three cornea faculty members, but is expected to operate as part of the team as an appointed faculty member in the department, at the level of instructor. This includes participation in the call schedule, collaboration with other faculty on joint cases and interactions with the residents. The strengths of this fellowship include very close mentorship, broad exposure to medical and surgical cornea, and first-hand experience with clinical trials. The practice site is an active participant in multiple clinical trials, which may include pre-market approval device studies and in-house development of new devices in the ophthalmology space.
