Certificate Programs

The Graduate Certificate in Clinical Research curriculum is offered through the Department of Public Health Sciences and consists of 12 credits in biostatistics, epidemiology, health services research, and SAS statistical analysis computing.

Courses are offered on weekday evenings, enabling the student to continue work activity and engage in clinical and health services research coursework. Completion of the certificate is excellent preparation for continuing in the Master of Science (MS) in Clinical Research degree.

The 12-credit Graduate Certificate in Global Health, offered through the Department of Public Health Sciences, provides students with foundational graduate-level coursework in global health.

The certificate is offered to current public health students, alumni and anyone interested in advancing knowledge and skills in key global health competencies.

The Graduate Certificate in Hospital and Health System Preparedness, offered through Penn State World Campus, provides students with knowledge and skills to protect the critical infrastructure of hospitals, medical facilities and emergency management systems.

Students will become knowledgeable and experienced in development, testing, evaluation and revision of an emergency operations, and will understand evidence-based approaches to designing emergency operations plans and procedures.

The Graduate Certificate in Public Health, offered through the Department of Public Health Sciences, provides students with foundational graduate-level coursework in public health.

Upon completion, students will be able to demonstrate knowledge in four core areas of public health – biostatistics, epidemiology, health services administration, and social and behavioral sciences – and apply their knowledge and skills to solving public health problems.

The Graduate Certificate in Public Health Preparedness is offered entirely online through Penn State World Campus and gives students the knowledge and skills needed to prevent, mitigate, and respond to natural and human-made disasters.

Designed for working emergency management professionals, this certificate is open to candidates who hold a bachelor's degree. The program is ideal for federal, state, or local emergency management officials, public health practitioners, health care providers, hospital administrators or managers, or first responders.

The primary goal of the Graduate Certificate in Translational Science is to provide a formal, structured program that allows medical and health care professionals to enhance a successful career in translational science.

Courses for the 15-credit programs are available at the Hershey and University Park campuses, as well as online through the World Campus, making the program appropriate for working students.
