Medicine Chair's Message
In This Section
At all times, the Department of Medicine aims to excel in patient care, research, education and community outreach. These missions are supported by our 12 divisions, 300 faculty, 55 advanced practice providers, 65 fellows, 80 residents and 100 staff.
Our department consists of international leaders in medical school and resident education, laboratory and clinical research and cutting-edge clinical care. Our faculty led the transformation in medical student education by introducing the innovative health systems science education and team-based learning curriculum, and our researchers paved the way for the introduction of groundbreaking procedures and state-of-the-art therapies that revolutionize patient care.
We are devoted to enhancing the health of our communities, transforming care for the underserved and eliminating health disparities in central Pennsylvania and beyond. In part, we sustain this goal by leveraging Penn State Project ECHO, a knowledge-sharing and mentoring network that gives providers in rural regions access to advanced subspecialty knowledge through virtual learning opportunities.
Our dedication to a dynamic workplace, physician wellness and work satisfaction is as unparalleled as our commitment to the core values and missions that drive us. We champion diversity, equity and belonging, and we celebrate individuality and differences.
I invite you to explore this website and discover all the things that make our department such an incredible place to be.
