Emergency Medicine

Education is a fundamental mission of the Department of Emergency Medicine. We provide various educational events and opportunities each academic year to all who provide patient care. At the undergraduate level, our department boasts consistently high ratings for our acting internship from College of Medicine medical students and visiting medical students. All students are provided fundamental emergency medicine knowledge through weekly simulation sessions while on their rotation.

There are four different post-graduate training programs: an emergency medicine residency, two fellowships, and a physician assistant post-graduate training program. Residency didactics are open to the entire department and are provided on a weekly basis. Grand rounds are provided on a quarterly basis with invited experts on various emergency medicine topics. Faculty are continually kept up to date through quarterly faculty development sessions. Additionally, the team of advanced practice providers conduct monthly journal clubs to stay abreast of emerging information. Lastly, all residents, advanced practice providers, and faculty are provided funding to attend additional conferences to further their lifelong learning. As patient care is foremost, our education mission assures all are provided with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to deliver the best care.
