Biography
The Yongsoo Kim Lab investigates the brain's cellular architecture and functional organization across development, aging, and disease using mouse models and high-resolution 3D mapping techniques. Their research centers on three interconnected pillars: 1) mapping neuronal, glial, and neurovascular changes across the lifespan to uncover the cellular underpinnings of conditions like autism spectrum disorder and Alzheimer’s disease; 2) dissecting the circuit wiring, neural dynamics, and functional roles of the oxytocin system and the dorsal endopiriform nucleus (EPd); and 3) pioneering digital 3D brain atlases (such as the developmental common coordinate framework, DevCCF) along with neuroinformatics registration tools to enable precise spatial visualization and analysis of high-resolution whole-brain datasets.
