Associate ProfessorNeurology

Biography

Dr. Nagaraja and his colleagues conduct neuroimaging research: 1) to understand the cerebral hemodynamics and ischemic core in acute ischemic stroke, and 2) explore the early imaging biomarkers of cerebral amyloid angiopathy particularly among patients with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Dr. Nagaraja’s primary research focus is to understand the cerebral hemodynamics in acute ischemic stroke using perfusion imaging and magnetic resonance imaging. His research goal is to improve the understanding of ischemic core and ischemic penumbra with neuroimaging.

In the area of cerebral amyloid angiopathy, his research focuses on prevalence, imaging biomarkers, and outcomes using national and Penn State Health datasets. He uses large national datasets to study stroke in young adults and disparities of stroke.

Dr. Nagaraja has served as a principal investigator or co-investigator in several clinical trials related stroke funded by the NIH (StrokeNet) and industry.
