Alain Zingraff Lekoubou Looti, MD, MS
Assistant Professor, Neurology
Assistant Professor, Public Health Sciences
Biography
Dr. Lekoubou conducts research on mechanisms and factors influencing the development of epilepsy after stroke. He is exploring new models to predict seizures and approaches to treating seizures and reducing their impact on stroke complications.
Dr. Alain Lekoubou's research goal is to improve the understanding of factors influencing the incidence and outcome of stroke and epilepsy and the link between both conditions, hence lessening the burden of post-stroke epilepsy, which affects one in 10 stroke survivors.
Dr. Lekoubou has used large national datasets to answer relevant research questions on stroke and epilepsy epidemiology and risk factors. His research focuses on stroke outcomes research; epilepsy outcomes research; and model prediction and risk factors for post-stroke epilepsy.
He was awarded funding through the Comprehensive Health Studies microgrant at Penn State College of Medicine to study trends of an association of acute seizures in young Americans with intracerebral hemorrhage.
