The Musculoskeletal Fellowship at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center is a one-year, non-ACGME-accredited program that admits one fellow per year.

The Musculoskeletal Fellowship at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center allows the fellow to be fully integrated into the musculoskeletal section to work closely with faculty in interpreting radiographs, CT, MR and ultrasound studies of the musculoskeletal system.

The fellow will also perform CT and ultrasound-guided biopsies as well as therapeutic and diagnostic joint injections. Several didactic and interdisciplinary clinical case conferences, as well as a weekly journal club, support the fellowship educational experience.

Program Overview

Fellows are appointed to the faculty as clinical instructors and participate in independent interpretations of general radiology studies on call and in the emergency department in an effort to maintain and develop universal skills.

Elective time in other radiology disciplines is available to augment the musculoskeletal education.

Fellows receive faculty benefits. This includes 20 vacation days as well as a book and travel fund.

A complete application will include:

  • SSR Common Application Form

  • Personal statement

  • Three letters of recommendation (including at least one from the residency program director)

  • Curriculum vitae

  • USMLE scores for steps 1, 2 and 3 (a copy is acceptable)

  • Medical school dean’s letter (MSPE)

  • Medical school transcript (a copy is acceptable)

Letters of recommendation may be emailed directly by the references.

Interested fellows must also apply for the NRMP Match here.

In compliance with Match requirements, completed applications will be considered for interview appointments beginning in October, and all interviews will be completed by mid-March. Only one fellow is accepted per year.
