Biography
Dr. Yasin Uzun is a computational biologist. He earned an undergraduate and Master’s degree in Computer Engineering and PhD degree in Information Systems. This was followed by a postdoctoral training in bioinformatics.
Uzun Lab’s research focuses on understanding gene regulation in development, cell differentiation and diseases. For this goal, he employs single-cell sequencing data, machine learning and data mining methodologies. The main goal is to use existing analytical methods and develop new ones for drug target discovery for improving healthcare.
Dr. Uzun is currently an assistant professor at the Department of Pediatrics and Department of Molecular and Precision Medicine. He is also a faculty member of Penn State Cancer Institute, Biomedical Sciences graduate program, and Bioinformatics and Genomics graduate program.
