Biography
Dr. Stephanie Carey serves as an Associate Program Director for the Family and Community Medicine Residency at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. She is a board-certified Family Medicine and Primary Care Sports Medicine physician who completed her Bachelor of Science and Master of Public Health degrees at the University of Maryland–College Park, earned her medical degree from New York Medical College, and completed both her Family Medicine Residency and Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at Penn State Hershey.
As a core faculty member in both the Family Medicine Residency and Sports Medicine Fellowship, Dr. Carey is passionate about medical education and mentorship. She particularly enjoys teaching office-based procedures, point-of-care ultrasound, and engaging residents through didactics, clinical precepting, and sports event coverage.
Dr. Carey chose to continue her career at Penn State Health because of the strong relationships she built with colleagues and mentors, her passion for education and research, and the opportunity to remain at the forefront of evidence-based medicine. Her primary scholarly interests include sports medicine, point-of-care ultrasound, and graduate medical education.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Carey enjoys spending time with her family, watching sports, completing jigsaw puzzles, traveling, and exploring Central Pennsylvania, including discovering new restaurants throughout the region.
