Nuwan Sella Kapu, PhD, MBA

Nuwan Sella Kapu is Medical & Scientific Innovation Project Manager and one of the Associate Directors at the Penn State College of Medicine’s Center for Medical Innovation. Nuwan has over 15 years of experience in R&D, technology transfer, and academic-industry-government collaboration, with past SBIR awards from NSF, DOE, USDA, and EPA. He teams up with researchers and clinicians to push early-stage life science technologies through R&D, preparing them for future commercialization. He mentors innovators and engages with the Penn State community, industry, government agencies, and the broader entrepreneurial ecosystem to nurture the culture of entrepreneurship. Nuwan holds a Ph.D. in Plant Biology from Penn State and an MBA from UBC Sauder School of Business.
