Biography

Medical school: Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, Erie

Born in Rochester, New York, Michael grew up in Plano, Texas where he played primarily hockey and baseball. Hockey took him to Mercyhurst University, where he graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Before attending medical school, he obtained his Master of Science in Biomedical Science at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in North Chicago, Illinois followed by spending a year in Dallas, Texas teaching anatomy and physiology at Collin College, tutoring basic sciences, and working as a patient unit secretary at Parkland County Hospital. Michael graduated LECOM-Erie in 2019 with a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, followed by a preliminary surgery year at Penn State in the Department of Surgery from 2019-2020. After this, he completed a research fellowship at Penn State in the Department of Neurosurgery before matching here. Michael has published over 30 articles related to neurosurgery and other neurosurgical subspecialties to date, including topics in radiation oncology, cerebrovascular neurosurgery, neurosurgical oncology, spine and neurocritical care/neurotrauma. In his spare time, he enjoys climbing, hiking, golfing, cooking, and any type of opportunity to travel.
