Biography
The Pontes Lab focuses on understanding the molecular processes that underlie bacterial physiology. We take a genetics-guided, multidisciplinary approach to understand the molecular processes bacteria use to survive stress and alter their interactions with host cells. We explore these research themes using two bacterial species as experimental models: the mammalian pathogen Salmonella enterica, and the tsetse fly endosymbiont Sodalis glossinidius.
