Biography
Dr. Julio de Leon was born and raised in Guatemala before immigrating to the United States to pursue higher education. He earned his undergraduate degree in biochemistry from Brigham Young University–Idaho and completed his medical training at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle. His research interests have been age-related vocal atrophy, dysphagia, and disparities in surgical access among underserved populations, particularly Spanish-speaking communities. He is also passionate about mentorship and co-founded an initiative to support Latinx pre-medical students. Outside of the hospital, he enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and kids, salsa dancing, and perfecting his homemade pizza.
