My background is in the study of viruses and immune responses to viruses, and how this dynamic relationship is formed and evolves. We work on all aspects of this relationship, from virus entry, replication and assembly to sensing of virus infection and initiation of the clearing immune response by the host. We use multiple modalities to study these areas, all the way from large proteomic and genomic screens, through cell biological approaches (including fluorescent and electron microscopy) to study intracellular interactions, to tissue responses and survival from virus challenge in animal models. Our expertise allows us to collaborate in other multiple non-viral systems with investigators in many other departments in the College of Medicine.
