Andrew Lutzkanin, MD
Associate Professor and Director of Women's Health, Family and Community Medicine
Biography
Dr. Andrew Lutzkanin is an Associate Professor with dual appointments in the departments of Family and Community Medicine and Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, PA. He completed his medical degree at Penn State, his family medicine residency at Reading Hospital, and completed a one-year fellowship in high-risk and surgical obstetrics in Huntsville, Alabama before returning to practice for Penn State in Middletown in 2016.
He is the medical director of the Family Medicine Obstetrics service and regularly teaches students and residents in the outpatient, inpatient, newborn nursery, and labor and delivery settings. Additionally, he teaches Health Systems Science as part of preclinical curriculum in the College of Medicine.
His clinical interests focus on maternal child health and health prevention, and he provides cradle to grave care for his patients. His research focuses on clinical quality improvement and the care of pregnant patients. He has authored several clinical review articles and book chapters on a variety of topics including obstetrics/women’s health, penicillin allergy de-labeling, and value-based care.
Outside of his clinical practice, he has an ongoing interest in health policy and advocacy, having served a variety of leadership roles at the state and national level. He is currently President-elect of the Pennsylvania Academy of Family Phyicians, President of the Dauphin County Medical Society, and is Vice-speaker of the Pennsylvania Medical Society. He is married to the other Dr. Lutzkanin, a pediatric allergist, and has one daughter, Caroline, and a son, Andrew Robert.
