Pulmonary, Allergy and Critical Care Medicine at Penn State College of Medicine comprises several subspecialties of medicine that intersect around, but are not exclusive to, diseases that impact the lungs. Our faculty represent the subspecialties of pulmonary medicine, including interventional bronchoscopy and general pulmonary medicine, adult critical care medicine, allergy and immunology, and adult sleep medicine. Each of these sections is further divided into areas that can be explored on this site.

We do this through our dedication to our patients, applications of the latest science and care models to our practice, our robust educational programs, and active research and trials.
Our faculty are active members of educational programs throughout the institution and are recognized on an annual basis for their outstanding teaching efforts. Our team has nationally recognized researchers and scholars.
We also actively collaborate with other colleagues in the community and throughout the Penn State Health network, embracing the input of our local and national pulmonary, allergy and critical care medicine communities.

Education in Pulmonary, Allergy and Critical Care Medicine
The division is charged with the education and training of pulmonary, allergy, critical care and sleep medicine for any learner that rotates on these teams. The division offers a three-year fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine along with a one-year interventional bronchoscopy fellowship, as well as a two-year allergy and immunology fellowship.
Learners are also able to participate in Grand Rounds, medical student clerkships and electives, APP training and many other continuing education opportunities.
Research in Pulmonary, Allergy and Critical Care Medicine
Areas of research focus for division researchers include: control of respiration, toxicology and control of breathing, ARDS/critical care topics, communication at the end of life/advance directives, and simulation and education.
