Pharmaceutical Industry Lion Leaders (PILL)

Our mission is to empower graduate students in the pharmaceutical sciences by fostering meaningful connections, sharing industry knowledge, and providing hands-on learning opportunities that bridge the gap between academia and industry.

The Pharmaceutical Industry Lion Leaders (PILL) organization was founded in 2023 by three motivated graduate students: Rebecka Serpa, Emily Tufano, and Esma Yerlikaya. Recognizing a gap in exposure to industry career pathways, they established PILL to help students explore opportunities beyond academia and build meaningful connections with professionals in the pharmaceutical field.

From the outset, the founders prioritized creating platforms for knowledge sharing and networking. They actively engaged alumni working in industry, inviting them to share their experiences, insights, and career guidance with current students. These early efforts laid the foundation for a strong and growing professional network.

Their dedication and initiative not only shaped the identity of PILL, but also established many of the valuable connections the organization continues to benefit from today. The work of the founding team has inspired subsequent executive boards to expand upon this vision, strengthening PILL’s mission and impact within the graduate community.
