Biography
With over 10 years of experience working in the Public Health field, Sol has conducted and managed numerous epidemiological studies, ranging from observational studies to multi-center trials. Her research has covered a variety of topics, including the epidemiology of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, metabolic syndrome, air pollution and cardiovascular health, sleep related health problems, and colorectal cancer screening among Latinos. Most recently, she managed a PCORI Large Pragmatic multi-center trial that tested the impact of exercise coaching on reducing fragility fractures among seniors. Sol’s work has been presented at local, state, and national scientific meetings. She has published more than 20 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Sol earned a M.S. in Public Health Sciences (formerly known as Health Evaluation Sciences) at Penn State College of Medicine and a B.S. in Chemistry at the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico. In addition, Sol completed competitive and rigorous research trainings during a Post-Baccalaureate Research Training at the University of Rochester Medical Center, a Summer Internship Program (SUIP) at the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), and MARC Scholar Research training in the Microbiology Department-Ponce School of Medicine.
Born in Puerto Rico, Sol moved to central Pennsylvania in 2006. She lives in Lancaster, PA with her husband and son. She writes and speaks Spanish fluently.
