Seyed Alireza Mansouri, MD

Dr. Alireza Mansouri is a neurosurgeon-scientist and Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at the Penn State College of Medicine, where he directs an NIH-funded laboratory focused on cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) liquid biopsy for brain tumors. His research develops and validates minimally invasive molecular biomarkers from CSF to improve diagnosis, prognostication, and treatment monitoring across primary and metastatic central nervous system malignancies. Active projects include CSF proteomic profiling in gliomas and leptomeningeal disease using the Seer Proteograph platform, conducted through a multi-institutional consortium. His program integrates proteomics, genomics, and clinical outcomes to advance liquid biopsy toward routine neuro-oncologic practice, spanning biomarker discovery, assay validation, and prospective clinical translation, and is supported by an active R01. Clinically, Dr. Mansouri specializes in the surgical management of intrinsic brain tumors and in stereotactic radiosurgery.
