Biography

Lab Affiliation (Department): Dr. Sinisa Dovat (Pediatrics)

I am a committed bioinformatics researcher with a passion for extracting insights from complex biological data and addressing scientific questions through computational approaches. During my research journey, I have developed expertise across multiple domains, including genomics, transcriptomics, marine microbial genomics (16S metagenomics), computer-aided drug design, structural bioinformatics, pipeline/tool development, and machine learning. I also have hands-on experience in basic microbiology and molecular biology techniques and assays. This interdisciplinary training has strengthened my ability to integrate computational and biological approaches for problem-solving. My goal is to continuously develop and apply my expertise in bioinformatics while contributing to impactful interdisciplinary research.

Currently, I am working on multiple projects involving the analysis of high-throughput and multi-omics datasets, including genomics, transcriptomics, epigenomic profiling (ChIP-seq, CUT&Tag, etc.,), and chromatin interaction (Hi-C), to investigate the role of IKZF factors in regulating R-loop and G-quadruplex (G4) structures in acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). I am also analyzing RNA-seq data from CK2 knockout (KO) genotypes to assess genotype-dependent effects on inflammation- and cytokine-related responses in bone marrow and alveolar macrophages. In parallel, I am evaluating in-house designed compounds in inflammatory disease models of psoriasis to understand their roles in immune regulation, disease suppression, and cellular processes such as aging and senescence using single-cell RNA sequencing approaches.
