Harness the power of mindfulness to improve your well-being and the safety and quality of your patient care.
This course is unlike any CME you have taken before. Based on Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), it follows a longitudinal format with 90-minute sessions weekly for 4 consecutive weeks from April 6 to April 27, 2026. Each session will consist of didactic content, mindfulness practice, and group dialogue regarding the practice. Participants will be provided mindfulness meditation recordings to practice daily while taking part in the course.
Quotes from past participants:
“This course was a great introduction to begin growing to be more effective as a human in interaction with other humans.”
“I think mindfulness helps me focus on the patient in front of me and focus on my work in general every day and may prevent me from making errors. Mindfulness helps me have greater compassion which will help improve my practice.”
“Mindfulness practice is so valuable and important for approaching becoming the best version of yourself you can be.”
The course is created and led by Timothy D. Riley, MD, professor and associate vice chair for wellness in the Department of Family and Community Medicine. Dr. Riley is a qualified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction teacher and leads the Mindfulness Programs at Penn State Health. He has extensive medical education and scholarly experience in quality improvement, patient safety, and physician well-being.
