As an academic surgery department our faculty is committed to advancing the science of surgery through the pursuit of pioneering research, scholarly activity, and innovation. Research initiatives within the Department range from NIH supported research in bioengineering and the surgical basic sciences to industry sponsored clinical trials to entrepreneurial technology transfer and innovation programs. All divisions sponsor programs of research and scholarly investigation.
