MARY BALL CARRERA SCHOLARSHIP
Established by NMF Board member Neal Ball to honor the memory of his sister Mary Ball Carrera, this need-based merit scholarship is presented to an outstanding Native American woman enrolled in an accredited US medical school, and recognizes outstanding academic achievement, leadership and community service.

NATIONAL MEDICAL ASSOCIATION
The National Medical Association annually recognizes and rewards African-American medical students for extraordinary accomplishments, academic excellence, leadership and potential for significant contributions to medicine.

Eligibility for these awards is limited to African-American medical students. Each medical school may submit up to two nominations for The NMA Emerging Scholar Awards and two for the Awards for Medical Journalism. Number and value of the awards: The number of scholarship varies annually. The NMA Emerging Scholar Awards are $2,250 each. The NMA Patti LaBelle Award is $5,000. The NMA Awards for Medical Journalism are of $2,500 each.
UNITED HEALTH FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS

The United Health Foundation Scholarships was established in 2008 by United Health Foundation. The scholarship is presented annually to ten underrepresented minority medical students who are recognized for outstanding academic achievement and potential for significant contributions to medicine.
